Remarks

The small diameter of this vessel and its significant neck suggest a jar form or an LB pitcher. While both surfaces are listed here as light gray in color, they are in fact 90% corroded and were originally a very dark gray or black color. The core includes additional black mottling in layers 1 and 3, associated with the internal and external slips. The ornament consists of a barely visible mark which could also belong to a program of oblique hatch decorating. Coarse sand particles are also present in the heavily layered core. Rotational striations are present on both surfaces. Breaks are rough.
