Remarks

This sherd features anywhere between 2 and 4 annular furrows, unclear because of the location of the breaks. Between each furrow is a raised, polished band, which may also be referred to as an embossed line or cannelure. These process of producing these furrows has produced corresponding impressions on the internal surface. While the fabric is dominated by fine sand inclusions, there is also a significant amount of medium sand present, perhaps 30%. There are rotational striations evident on both the external and internal surfaces. The external and internal surfaces are approximately 10% covered in black and white corrosion respectively. Pavel tells me that this kind of cannelure is more popular during the Iron Age, but cannot be isolated to any particular LM period. Breaks are generally smooth.
