7/13/06 This is a limestone, grayish white whetstone. The shape was once probably close to rectangular, but through use, the four sides have become concave and the tool now narrows toward one end. All surfaces are very smooth, and there are traces of scratches on all sides, which further substantiate its function as a sharpening tool. There are curvilinear, natural, orange streaks on all sides in the limestone. The dimensions are difficult to measure given the concavity of all sides and the narrowing from one end to the other.
