Light brown sandy, gravelly loam. Very few ceramic sherds, i.e. less than five, and only a few very small bones. Matrix continues down, but too tight to work in this area and we're already 20 - 30 cm below the bottom course of the wall. Also in southern part of the trench, locus 6 stopped at 142cm below datum in an (unsuccessful) attempt to find the bottom of the wall.
