An s/b fragment from a small LM jar. The decorative schema consists of a circumferential incised line on the shoulder immediately followed inferiorly by a raised belt of oblique hatches. This decoration may be meant to portray a cord pattern, but if so it is highly stylized. The hatches repeat at an average 0.475cm around the vessel, but there is a high degree of variability. The exterior surface is mottled with Brown 7.5YR 5/2 in several locations. Wide and rather deep circumferential rotational impressions are visible on the exterior surface, while the interior is more abraded and features moderate amounts of circumferential rotational striations. The superior shoulder incised line decoration could simply be a rotational impression. Both surfaces are 10% covered in white corrosion. In addition to the medium sand particles, moderate frequencies of coarse and fine sand are also present in the fabric. Small frequencies of all particles sizes (and perhaps even some very coarse sand) are visible perforating both surfaces). Breaks are smooth.
