Locus 3 designates the northwestern half of the interior of room D. It is a dark brown silt matrix, which still has the roots of the topsoil in it. The soil is otherwise clean, i.e. not particularly rocky. Material densities in this locus were low in the north quadrant but then picked up in the west quadrant. A small area along the southwest edge of the locus was left unexcavated as a ramp out of the trench to the backdirt pile.
