Originally coded this as a packed clay floor, immediately beneath locus 2 north of locus 4 wall. Small black flecks of organics and gravel bits common in the floor. One small piece of charcoal was encountered but not in collectable size and condition. But going down further showed that this was a soil horizon consisting of a brown loam, as the walls also continue down. The real prepared floor in this part of the trench is locus 8.
