Place: Ar/Ts.SLT8.8

Prepared clay floor on north side of loc 4 wall below loc 6. Took a charcoal sample from floor surface near western baulk at 1.14m below datum (Ar/Ts.SLT8.8.c14.1). Surface has many small bits of bone embedded in it and mottled with dark organic stains. Scraping down the floor, it went down another 20 or so cm until it was very compact just above yellow clay bedrock. This is probably the true occupation layer as it included a hearth (locus 12, with assoc c14 samples). Also collected another carbon sample outside the hearth in NE corner of floor at 1.35m below datum (Ar/Ts.SLT8.8.c14.2). Haven't run the carbon samples, but provisionally assigning locus to stratum 2 (LB) based on some ceramic data, and LBA c14 dates in neighboring loci.
