Remarks

A stone bedrock floor associated with the locus 7 basalt basin and the north trench bedrock pit. The floor has been planed flat and some of the tool marks remain visible in the bedrock surface. On top of the bedrock is a thin layer of yellow clay which slopes upwards east of the basin. At the center of the locus, directly west of the locus 7 basin, lie two black ashy "pools": locus 15. While in situ material was indeed present on this floor surface, the frequency of material above the floor (in locus 3) was much higher. Three soil samples were taken from the overlying locus 3 matrix as "floor samples" from this context.
