Amazingle preserved LB jar with pink-buff universal slip, although, below the shoulder the buff slip gives way to darkened mosttled coloration suggesting possible use as a cooking vessel or perhaps messy firing practice. 2 3cm wide spalls on the shoulder are the only blemishes beside one rim to shoulder crack. The decoration scheme, all on the shoulder, consists of a 360 degree row of nail incision followed by a 9-11 line cob decoration, folled by a row of nail incision in the reverse position from the first row. Another sequence of nail incisions enciricles the base. The body portion of the vessel exhibits significant evidence of vertical wiping striations, while the exterior shoulder and the entire interior surface feature rotation striations. The lower base exhibis 10% coverage by white encrustations. The entire base in covered with concentric rotational striations. There is minor evidence of organic and pyrite popping on the external surface. Inclusions are rather large and aproach grit size. They are particularly evident on the interior surface and on any exterior spalls. 08.20.2008 w/AFG.
