This locus consists of a medium brown, more clay-ey soil than the overburden of Locus 2 and 3 above, and is restricted to an area (about 2 by 3.5 m) in the corner of the walls that make up the NE and SE walls of the trench. See notebook for complete elevations and measurements; the elevation given above is from the westernmost part of this matrix. The matrix seems to hug the NE and SE walls that delimit this corner of the trench, perhaps a residue of plaster or clay coating on the original wall. This locus extended throughout the removal of Locus 3, the dark loamy soil to the north, and the final measurements are given in the notebook; the locus was closed 7/7/10, after which Locus 6 was declared underneath as a potential floor level.
