Remarks

This locus is a continuation of Locus 6 in the eastern corner of the trench, but extending to the southern corner and into the center of WSAC. The top elevation given is for the center of the SE wall, and is an arbitrary starting point. The matrix is medium brown, mottled with more small pieces of charcoal than Locus 6 above, and slopes toward the southern corner. There are also still ceramic and bone artifacts within this matrix, suggesting that the 'floor' continues or that we have not reached bedrock yet. Another course of the SE wall is now barely visible. See notebook for sketch and elevations. The locus was closed on 7/21/10, after a pass through the entire trench of the medium brow/clay matrix. At the bottom of this locus a lot more artifacts were appearing. The matrix ended as a mixture of lighter brown soils near the NE and SE walls of room WSAC, and a darker but still compact clay matrix in the western corner.
