This locus was declared on 7/12/10 as part of the removal of the wheelbarrow ramp in the center of the trench, at an elevation which still consisted of the darker loamy soil of the overburden, and not the medium brown clay matrix of Locus 11 to the east. The locus is therefore of an irregular shape and hugs the area between Locus 10 and 11. See notebook for sketch and elevations. This locus had a high density of small rocks and the soil is still darker than in the east corner, but by the end of 7/12/10 a more medium brown matrix was visible, appearing at a much lower elevation than the eastern corner.
