This locus consists of the remaining dark, slightly aerated and loamy soil in operation WSAD, mostly in the southern corner and along the SE baulk. The matrix is much darker than Locus 21 to the NE, and less clay-like. It is possibly a remnant of the overburden in the slope of the room, and is occurring in a similar way to the dark matrices in operation WSAC.
