This feature describes parts of a paved stone floor revealed by the excavation of Locus 32 in WSAD along the SE baulk. These stones are at a considerably lower elevation than the stones of Locus 29, which we are calling Stratum 3. This either means that there is considerable erosion or some sort of step, if the two floors are contemporaneous, OR that the second floor exposed is of an earlier construction date. The stone against the SW baulk does seem to be running under one of the stones of Locus 29. This paved section runs at a diagonal into Locus 29, and ends about 1.5 m from the SW baulk. The matrix between the stones is a very dark brown, clayish matrix, likely because of the slope of the room leaving a lot more overburden in this area. Unfortunately the matrix did not reveal any artifacts, as it is small and was cleaned before the locus had been declared, 8/11/10. One piece of charcoal was taken, from Locus 32, roughly 5 cm above this floor in the western corner.
30/6/2011 (KK) The stratum for this paved feature was labeled as INDETERMINATE because radiocarbon dates came back for parts of this room from EBA and LBA dates and because this floor is potentially earlier, a stratum is not easily determined without further investigation.
