Locus 28 covers the area embraced by locus 19 and locus 27, the southeast sector of the interior of the room. The matrix is a medium brown silt speckled with large and small bits of charcoal and yellow-brown clay patches, and overall lighter in color than the darker brown silt of locus 29, which runs perpendicular to locus 28 in the northeast. The locus is quite rocky: a line of a two or three stones juts into the room from the south west edge of the locus. And there is quite a jumble of stones in the eastern corner. We have cleaned these and they appear all to be fallen. In the course of excavating locus 28 and collecting an unprecedented number of unusually large charcoal samples, I identified in the section of the locus a dark brown to black streak of burn layer (charcoal and burnt earth) that appears to slant downwards from the southwest to the east. It measures about 3cm in thickness and can be traced across the center of the locus. Just beneath this black matrix I found half of a shallow bowl, similar to the bowls found in room G with the red band on the exterior of the rim.
