Place: Ar/Ge.T31.12

The matrix in Locus 12 appears to be the same mottled (medium and dark brown, black, and tan) clay as we saw in Locus 10. In Locus 12, in the SE corner, there are some small globules of raw clay. Along the eastern wall, there is more charcoal, some of which is in thin lines (3-4 cm across).

In the locus, there is a large area of charcoal, which appears to be part of two burned beams which are crossed at a little less than 90 degrees (Locus 13). The top beam lies parallel to the surface and measures 12 cm x 17 cm x 7 cm. The bottom beam is angled downwards and measures 25 cm x 6 cm x 6 cm. There is a large amount of ash in the NE corner of the locus, with the tops of a number of rocks beginning to emerge. Near Locus 13, there is another portion of a beam running north-south (Locus 14). There is another moderate sized piece of charcoal, which is just south of Locus 13, which is angled downward and oriented SSE. In the NW corner there is a portion of a burned board, near a portion of a burned beam and a few other pieces of charcoal. One of the pieces underneath the board appears to have a hole in it.
