This locus designates another section of the floor in WSN, just to the immediate southeast of locus 55. The matrix is the usual tannish clay with bits of charcoal and organic earth that sits above clay and the bedrock outcrop. In the middle of the locus is locus 57, the bedrock basin/pit. The elevations measured above appear wrong, but the fact is that the locus was extremely shallow since we were already upon bedrock in much of the area when we first opened it, and it is not a level surface.
