Remarks

This locus represents a very small section of a layer of soil that is beneath the clay floor/floor prep in T32. Because the cross section of these multiple clay levels was exposed during the cleaning and excavation of T32, and because in the section charcoal was visible beneath the successive flooring layers, a sample was taken to act as a terminus post quem for the flooring above and also for the destruction layer. This may help to better calibrate the dendro and C14 samples from the destruction layer above. As such, this locus was opened in order to account for the C14 sample taken from here (Ar/Ge.T32.54.C14.01).
