Soil beneath locus 9 in area delimited by the stones of Feature 10 and the NW wall, with Locus 12 to the north. Matrix is very dark and a gritty moist consistency, and the excavation which started 2/8/11 came up with several pieces of bright orange roughly fired clay. The soil seems to continue beneath the current level of the stones of Feature 10. It was decided to stop the excavation of this locus until we got a working screen as it might be a contemporaneous deposit to the linear stone feature. See notebook for sketch and elevations; given is northern point.
Locus was never finished in the 2011 season due to time constraints; protected by tarp.
