Place: Ar/Ts.WSAC3.14

Trial locus opened 2/8/11 to reach the floor in WSAC3, extending from the eastern corner 2 meters wide and 4.5 m long down the SE baulk, in a matrix of the tannish brown/mottled clay-y cultural fill. The extents were arbitrarily decided to cut a section to get to the paved floor seen in WSAC2; the SW edge is the wheelbarrow ramp while the NW edge attempted to skirt an area of darker soil. There is a very large boulder about 3 m from the NE baulk which is currently sitting in some darker soil and on top of three smaller rocks within this locus. The NW and SW areas of the locus are darker than expected, and might represent a swale of the room's floor toward the center. Locus screened and currently given a context of Stratum 3 because it sits above the floor; however in one shovel pass 2/8/11 we had not hit the floor. Two measly pieces of charcoal taken same day from bottom of this pass. See notebook for sketch and elevations; given is NW center.
