NW wall in WSAC3, abutting the SW wall (Locus 28) in the western corner. This wall is poorly preserved compared to the others in WSAC2, and is also much wider than the SW and SE walls. In the western end the wall is roughly two courses of very large boulders with some gaps in between, initially suggesting a doorway; due to time constraints this area was not excavated in 2011. Here the wall seems to be two faces; roughly four meters to the north there is a break and the wall looks like it has collapsed, with many small stones of the internal fill spilling out and what looks like two SE faces of the wall. The soil in this exposed area was much lighter (Locus 4), almost a yellowish chalk, which showed up in the NE baulk drawing. Feature 10 (linear stone feature) is roughly 1.5 m to the SE from this wall, and might connect to it but needs further investigation.
Limestone and basalt boulders and stones. Contemporaneous with clay and paved floors in WSAC3. See graph paper for sketch and elevations; given is the center stone and the corresponding bottom elevation.
On 7/Aug/11 the large boulder that had been jutting out from the top of the wall about a meter from the SW wall fell into the trench and we decided to leave it there.
