    This locus is the matrix between the uppermost and the middle clay floors in northern half of the LB floor area. The matrix is a mottled clay (tan, brown, etc) ending on orange floor prep. There is also a fair amount of charcoal and black staining, a portion of which I took for C14 dating.
    In the NW corner of Locus 55 there is small pit, oval in shape, which has axes of 30 cm and 20 cm, which is now Locus 57. Its contents were taken as a macrobotanical sample (Ar/Ge.T31.57.MB.01).

    In the NE corner of Locus 55, we found four small beads (Ar/Ge.T31.55.SH.01) at 2283.84 masl. Nearby, we found a retouched flake (Ar/Ge.T31.55.L.01) at 2283.79 masl.
