Locus 3 is at the same stratum as loci 2 and 4. The soil is a lighter greyish-brown, with a well-sorted medium grain typical of the first cultural layer below topsoil at SLT.
Locus 3 is located towards the west baulk, adjacent to locus 2. It is separated from locus 2 by the mostly linear stone wall that runs NNW.
This wall may or may not be present in SLT10 and SLT11—further excavation is required.
Subsequent excavations should note that the top of locus 3 has not been excavated, as operations were relegated to locus 2 in the interest of time.
