The locus is sod. The weather was windy and chilly in the morning, although it was sunny. Around 2 pm, it became hot. First, we measured the room (DA). My trench is DA2. DA2 measures 5.5x10m. WSDA2 datum 1 is in the north corner, WSDA2 datum 2 is in the E corner. The workers came with no shovels. So after setting up the room, we waited for the workers to return with 2 shovels. The workers then shoveled out the first locus of sod around the corners. While 1 worker did this task, 2 others carried away the dirt to a back-dirt pile. We must be careful about how many back-dirt piles we make. We have about 92 cm of the SE wall emerging. We have 2 courses of the NE retaining wall visible. We have 90 cm or so of the NW edge of the trench is the top of the NW wall. This wall is 1 course visible from the surface. There exists a concentration of fall close to the E corner of the trench in the absence of wall along the E corner. The locus is rocky. I think a lot of it is fall. Perhaps a wall running through the middle of the trench. I have about 20 rocks that need to come out.
