I created this locus to level out the trench and find the soil change extending from locus 18, which was a medium brown and much lighter color. The locus was created based on the given dimensions after I trowelled out the area and found a soil change along the lines of this locus. The soil is looser, and I am starting to see a very light colored clay like soil. I found what appears to be a flagstone floor in some parts of this locus. It appears I may be near my floor all over the locus in the areas I do not see the flagstone floor. Perhaps they used bedrock as a floor. This locus is located South of the NE wall and to the West of locus 18. It is bordered by the balk. I did not extend this locus to the NE wall because the soil there (about 10 cm above) is a much lighter color. In some areas, I still see the medium brown soil and even some dark soil near the center of the room (along the balk), but for the most part the soil is light. There is a lot of gravel coming up when I trowel, so I am increasingly convinced that bedrock was used as floor stones. This locus is a stratum 3 locus based on the flagstone floor.
