This locus was opened to further excavate the dark soil found in locus 4. This locus was made up of medium brown soil in the western half and a lighter clay like soil in the eastern part. I found an in situ ceramic vessel 190 cm from the NE wall and 226 from the NW wall. I took a charcoal sample from near the vessel, which I think is a good size. I could not take a soil sample from under the vessel because it was on rock. I trowel excavated a meter by a meter area around the vessel. I took a picture and excavated the locus to the NE wall and to the baulk. Locus 5 is bordered by the NE wall, locus 4 and the baulk.
