A rim sherd from a medium-sized EBII jar, preserved almost down to the n/s transition. The decorative schema consists of an arrangement of geometric rhombus designs and angular spirals fit into a circumferential band over the inferior portion of the neck. A single circumferential incised line bounds the register of geometric ornaments superiorly, while the inferior edge of the register is cut off by the sherd break. The exterior is burnished, with moderate amounts of abraded polish also visible. Some of the burnish carries over the interior rim surface, below which circumferential rotational striations are also present. The burnish marks appear to be horizontally applied. The spaces between each line feature a line of missing circumferential polish/slip. The external/lateral rim surface features several predepositional chips or spalls, while the interior, inferior neck is almost completely missing due to spalling—this appears to be the dislocation of an entire slab unit. In addition to the black coloration, the interior surface is mottled with Dark Brown 7.5YR 3/3 and Very Dark Gray GY1 3/N. The exterior surface features highly limited amounts of white accretion. In addition to the medium sand, significant frequencies of fine and coarse sand are visible in the fabric. All surfaces are moderately perforated by mica inclusions. Breaks are rough.
