Locus 08 is the soil within the cromlech and under the removed stones (capstones). The soil matrix varies between something similar to T01.02 (2.5YR 3/1) and T01.03 (7.5 YR 3/2 clay and silt). It became increasingly mottled as we excavated. The soil was removed using shovels and trowels and screened.
