Cluster of stones in the northern half of the unit. All appeared to by lying in situ (horizontally). After excavating around these stones it became clear that despite the cluster they were in fact floating. The high density of cultural material adjacent to this 50cm long "feature" suggested that irregardless of the fact that this was a floating context we were encroaching an area of cultural significance. The presence of larger stones in the southern half of the test trench, moreover, enhanced our confidence and directed our investigation.
