This tool appears to be a broken hammerstone that was later repurposed as a polisher. The break on one end is fairly even and appears to be worn suggesting that it was pre-depositional. There are signs of use on the intact end as well as on both surfaces. This evidenced by the shape of the edges. The distal end is noticeably uneven and rough in a way that does not appear to be natural. With respect to the surfaces, the smooth texture, shine, and uneven coloring supports the hypothesis that this stone was utilized for polishing activities.
