Remarks

Locus 12 refers to the cluster of stones in the SE quadrant of T38. This locus is situated directly between locus (wall) 10 and locus 8. At first it was unclear if locus 12 constituted its own stone feature -- architectural or otherwise -- but upon enlarging the trench it appears that this cluster is likely tumble or collapse. This proved increasingly likely given the discovery of locus 15 (a North-South terrace wall). When we completed our investigations of this context it revealed that loci 8 and 12 constituted the space external to wall 10 and west of wall 15 in the SW corner of the trench. The function of the somewhat organized stones known as locus 8 still remains unclear. This context is just west of locus 17 (the clay surface).
