Place: Ar/Ge.T38.21

Locus 21 is situated in the Northeast corner of T38, directly west of locus (wall) 15. Located under locus 6, it is characterized by the presence of large stones (10-20cm) situated in close proximity to one another. These stones are adjacent to locus 22 (the stones associated with and comprising the tomb architecture). Initially, I believed that these stones were collapse form locus 15. Upon further articulation and cleaning, it seems that while some of these stones were associated with the tomb, some of those situated in the west of the context actually form a wall (locus 26). As we continue our excavations we will likely remove the stones that are in fact collapse. By clarifying the nature and function of the stones that comprise this locus, we hope to better understand the relationship between wall 15, feature 22, and wall 26. [elevations taken from D15.1]
