Designated MAE1736--radiographed, XRF
A sizable fragment from a small LB cup, it is r/b here. The decorative schema consists of a single application of circumferential comb-incised lines--5 lines in total—covering almost the entire should. The lines average 0.17 cm in width and are spaced on average 0.075 cm apart. The exterior appears to have been highly polished at some point, with significant amounts of it now abraded off, particularly between each comb incision. The spaces between each line feature a line of missing circumferential polish/slip. Dense circumferential rotational striations are visible on the interior surface, while several circumferential rotational scratch marks ad striations are visible superior and inferior to the exterior comb incisions. The exterior surface is approximately 30% mottled with Dark Gray GY1 4/N. The interior surface features several small white concretions. In addition to the coarse sand, significant frequencies of fine sand are visible in the fabric. Both surfaces are feature limited frequencies of pyrite pops. Breaks are rough.
