Set into the alternating carbon and orange clay matrix noted in C5 were many fragments of a large vessel - it may have been laid out flat beneath several cm worth of burned materials, including an unidentified burned material which was crushed on the way back to the dig house. (More of this same material was found later in C7 so we do have some of it) The sherds and the bone were kept as a separate locus because it might represent a feature. Only one elevation was taken from the bottom.
