Gray gravelly clay loam, very compact. May in fact be bedrock. Doesn't actually cover the whole trench since the NE corner is already down to bedrock. Is not bedrock, but is located to the south of the wall. Is definitely a cultural level.
Excavation paused while we clear down to this level in the extension.
At this point we closed the locus rather arbitrarily, to be continued as the whole trench when we're down level with the base of 4.
