Ma Stela 1 (plate VIIh) was found 3.31km west (bearing 284°) of Hnaberd fortress, 0.95km north (bearing 7°) of Ma Stela 3, along the same natural water course (map quadrant B2m).
The stone was found atop a small hill above agricultural fields.
Standing erect on the crest of a hill, this tuff stela measures 3m in height and 2.2m in width. In addition to numerous scars from sculpting, one face (the one turned to the north) includes a modern inscription with two sets of three initials in Armenian characters.
