Ts Canal 1 drains Ts Reservoir 1. The coordinates above mark the head of the canal. The foot of the canal coordinates, where it flows into Ts Canal 2, are E435441, N4497097 (map quad B4p/l).
The canal flows south across a shallow basin and then through the eastern edge of a broad defile between two bedrock outcrops before joining Ts Canal 2.
The canal is only formalized at its head, where a stone dam regulates the flow. It becomes increasingly deeply cut as it moves south in order to draw the flow through the narrow defile on its southern end and then opens into two shallow channels before joining Ts Canal 2. At its maximum, the canal is 10m wide.
No surface materials. See entry for Ts Reservoir 1 for a general discussion of the difficulties in dating the initial construction of the canal.
