Ts BC 75 is located 1.21km southwest (bearing 199°) of Tsaghkahovit Fortress, 0.57km southeast of Tsaghkahovit village. It occupies the eastern slope of the natural outcrop known locally as Megara Tepe, which it shares with Ts BC 74 and 76 (map quad B4o).

Topography

The burials are primarily clustered at the summit of a tall southwest-northeast oriented ridge which affords excellent views of both Tsaghkahovit fortress and village. The ridge top itself is rather narrow and the burials spill over onto the upper slopes to the east, south, and north.

General Description

This large cluster extends across an area approximately 300m east-west by 200m north-south. A large number of boulders and erupting natural rock make estimates of the burial population difficult, but at least 90 cromlechs were recorded, many quite large, ranging from 4.5 to 10m in diameter. There was a wide variety of cromlechs noted in the area, including standard, paved, spiral, mounded, and bedrock styles.

Features & Materials

No surface materials.

Feature 1: is a typical spiral cromlech with an outer ring constructed of medium and large-sized, lightly worked basalt blocks set in two concentric rings that spiral inward. This spiral culminates in two capstones made of large basalt slabs.

Feature 2: is a unique variation on the standard cromlech. 10m in diameter, the outer ring is built of lightly worked basalt blocks. An interior space of paved basalt yields at the center to four large boulders which presumably served as capstones. The boulders rise a maximum of 60cm above the surrounding ground surface.
