This reservoir is located 1.3km southeast (bearing 133°) of Hnaberd village on the road to Hnaberd fortress (map quad B3i).
The reservoir is set on the northern edge of a broad plateau the slopes gently from the foot of Hnaberd fortress to the Tsaghkahovit plain below.
The reservoir is 75m in diameter but the water level appears to fluctuate considerably with the seasons. In 1998, this reservoir appeared to have been part of a water supply system for Hnaberd village that included a second reservoir to the south, below the southeastern corner of Hnaberd fortress. However, this upper reservoir subsequently broke and as of 2006 was no longer in existence (see Hn BC 04).
