Hn BC 01 was recorded 1.28km southeast (bearing 145°) of Hnaberd fortress, just across a primary watercourse from Hn BC 16 (map quad B3e).
This cluster of burials was built along a moderate west-facing slope, above a flowing watercourse. There is considerable evidence of disturbance in the area as large boulders--some of them possibly former capstones--appear to have been dislocated. However, none of the identifiable burials appears to have been looted.
The burials of this cluster include 20-25 cromlechs and a single large kurgan (feature 1). The cluster extends across 100m east-west and 75m north-south. The cromlechs are standard-style constructions, 2-5m in diameter, built of medium to large unworked basalt blocks.
No surface materials.
Feature 1: is a single large kurgan, 10.7m in diameter north-south and 15.2m east-west, located on the northwest edge of the cluster. The center of the mound rises 1.70m above the surrounding ground surface. The burial is built primarily of small tuff and basalt except for a single medium-sized basalt block at the summit of the mound
