This cluster of burials lies just 0.19km south (bearing 165°) of Hn BC 20, of which it may well be an extension (map quad B3a).
Built on the north-facing slope of a modest rock outcrop, the burials of this cluster are set amongst eroding areas of natural bedrock and occasional basalt boulders. Like Hn BC 20, there is some evidence of disturbance in this cluster, particularly to the kurgan.
The burials of Hn BC 21 extend across an area 75m east-west and 85m north-south. The burials, approximately 45 in number, are limited to standard cromlechs which vary in size from 2m to 5m in diameter except for a single large kurgan on the northern periphery of the cluster (feature 2). As is typical, they are constructed of medium-sized basalt blocks set in a single ring around 2-3 basalt boulder capstones.
No surface materials.
Feature 1: is a typical cromlech within this cluster. It is 3.2m in diameter east-west and 5m in diameter north-south. It is set on an area of low relief creating a slightly terraced effect. The construction stones are medium-sized, unworked basalt blocks set in a ring around 2 larger basalt capstones. The part of the ring upslope is submerged as are parts of the capstones.
Feature 2: is an unusual kurgan. The outer mound is 8.5m in diameter, 0.50m tall, and constructed of the usual pile of tuff and basalt cobbles. In the center, the chamber of the cromlech appears to have been built above ground, rather than below, as the contour of the cist lies exposed at the same height as the mound itself. The chamber is 1.4m long and 1.0m wide and lined with what from the surface appear to be worked basalt slabs.
