Like Ma Canal 2, its neighbor and possible extension 0.18km to the south, Ma Canal 3 is also 3.33 km west (bearing 275°) of Hnaberd fortress (map quadrant B2i).
This canal meanders along a gentle hillside which slopes slightly down from south to north.
The canal is constructed of variably sized unworked basalt stones and cobbles that line a shallow linear depression. The construction is 1.3m wide and averages 0.5m in depth. It is visible along a line only 40m long but unlike the typical linear form of most canals, this one meanders across the slope of the hillside, moving from south to north in a lazy series of bends and turns that approximate a 350° bearing.
