Remarks

This andiron fragment could have been part of a leg or alternatively part of a horn depending on the type andiron it was derived from. The morphology of the fragment is such that it seems to have a wide base that narrows into some form of point. Given that the object is broken on both ends it is incredibly difficult to discern whether the narrower part formed a flat stand (i.e. leg) or if it served a more decorative purpose. The ceramic artifact is grey in color and appears to be evenly fired. No tempers are overtly visible in the clay matrix. The object is a light grayish brown in color. It was found in the same context that also contained feature 41, the clay hearth.
