Place: Ar/Ge.T38.32

Locus 32 is located south of locus 33, east of locus 9 and west of locus 10. It was uncovered under locus 11 and constitutes the southern quadrant of that context. It is characterized by a compact, fine-grained almost clay-like matrix. The sediment was a medium brownish tan and well-sorted with some (albeit few) stones 5-10 cm in size. There was a considerable amount of in situ pottery uncovered in this context. These scatters contained large fragments, but no indications of any complete vessels. The context appears to be enclosed on three sides by walls (although the northern "wall" locus 33 is dubious). On the southern end of these locus was locus 3, our second burial. In the northeast corner of this context we found locus 41, a hearth locus about 12cm down from the bottom of wall 10. It is worth noting that in this context we gained some clarity about the architectural planning of these EB communities. Like in the architecture atop the citadel the wall stones appear to be situated between 10 and 20cm from where the "floors" are located.
