Place: Ar/Ge.T44.02

This locus refers to the wash layer under the topsoil and sod throughout the initial 7.7m unit plus the 4.5x3m expansion. It is characterized by a fairly loose, very dark brown matrix that was poorly sorted with a medium density of rocks (5-30cm in size) and moderate concentration of cultural materials. Unsurprisingly, most of the ceramics were black on red early bronze wares with a few late bronze sherds. Given our position on the slope relative to the citadel this combination was to be expected.
