This context refers to the pit in the southeast quadrant of T44, north of locus 27 (the pit situated at the meeting point of W01 and W02). This pit is distinctly circular in form. It contained a number of granite stones and groundstones. The matrix or fill (locus 22) was dark grey and ashy. It was well-sorted and fine-grained. The pit itself was quite deep ; it was not clay-lined, but rather cut into bedrock.
