This context is a small, circular pit situated in the northern half of the trench, just west of W04. This pit is situated immediately east of locus 45 and north of locus 41 (the figure eight shaped pit). In this pit we uncovered a unique situation. We found a flat stone that had a clay rim. We are currently unsure what the function of this installation is -- it is unlike anything we have previously encountered at Gegharot. This pit, like the others, was cut directly into the granite bedrock; it was not lined. The function of this feature remains largely unclear -- other than to provide a home for this feature. Given the associated material culture (of this pit and the others) it is assumed that this is an LBA construction. This feature is associated with locus 36, the fill.
