This is a fascinating sherd, a vessel type never seen before. It is a massive basin, on the thickness order of pithoi, but it in the form of a carinated "bowl", with inverted neck and continuous rectangular rim. Plus, there is a tubular spout that emerges off the neck. This spout is broken, so not clear how high off the rim it rose. Odd to have a spout on huge open vessel. How would one lift this once full? One of a kind, but should be drawn in case others appear. (Not included in the catalogue published in Iranica Antiqua--LK 5/14/17)
