The surfaces of the vessel are eroded. Though the slip is still visible, I am assuming it was polished based on the form. Traces of polish no longer visible, but unlikely that this kind of bowl would have been merely smoothed. The vessels is a phiale. Can either be described as having an inverted cone neck and continuous rim or a very short conical neck and outward inverted cone rim. Depends on where one places the break between the rim and the neck. As for the shape of the rim, it is only coarsely pointed. Sent for restoration. One small sherd of the rim (non-joining) reserved for INAA.
